Band sill problems were detected on a real estate inspection report caused by a lack of flashing in the original construction and water entry around door thresholds. These problems occurred because the covered porch did not have an overhang and the patio was not stepped down when originally constructed.
Palmer's Project Goals and Challenges
- Limited working space in a very tight crawl space where crews had to work around water and electrical lines.
- We had to support the wall system above from underneath as we rebuilt the structure.
Solutions
- Despite the tight conditions, we were able to do all the work via the crawl space. We ripped out all of the rotted materials and replaced them with new, pressure-treated wood.
- This project was completed in two days.
